We've taken client deliverability scores from 30 all the way to 90, sender scores from 3/10 to 10/10, and inbox placement percentages from sub-50% to 90%+ using one repeatable process.
But this is NOT a one-time fix. It’s a simple audit that takes about an hour, run once a month, and catches problems before they compound into something that's hard to recover from.
Most brands only look at deliverability when something has already gone wrong.
By that point the damage has been building for sometimes months, and the recovery takes significantly longer than the problem did to develop.
This is the exact process we use. Set a monthly reminder, block 60 minutes, and run through these six checks in order.
Check 1: Klaviyo Deliverability Score
Start here because it's the most familiar and gives you the fastest overall read on account health.
Go into Klaviyo, navigate to Deliverability, and look at two things. Where your score sits today and which direction it's trending.
A score sitting at 70 and declining is a more urgent problem than a score sitting at 65 and climbing. The trend matters as much as the number.
Anything below 70 warrants attention. Anything below 50 is an emergency.
Check 2: Klaviyo Deliverability Metrics
Don't stop at the overall score. Go one level deeper and check three specific metrics inside Klaviyo — unsubscribe rate, bounce rate, and spam complaint rate.
The critical thing here is to check these at the flow level not just the account level.
A welcome flow or abandonment flow can be quietly generating spam complaints that drag down your entire sender reputation while your campaign metrics look completely fine on the surface.
Go into each active flow individually and look at the deliverability tab for each one.
Anything above 0.08% spam complaint rate on a flow warrants investigation. Anything above 0.3% is urgent.
You can even dive into each flow email’s recipient activity to see if the emails bouncing or being marked as spam are being triggered by one TYPE of email (Gmail, Yahoo, Verizon, etc) or all coming from one source.

Check 3: Google Postmaster Tools
This is how Gmail specifically views your sending domain and it shows you things at the domain level that Klaviyo can't.
Check your domain reputation, your IP reputation, and your spam rate as Gmail sees it.
If something is trending the wrong direction here it will show up in Postmaster before it shows up anywhere else.
Most brands either don't have this set up or set it up once and never look at it again.

If you don't have Postmaster Tools configured for your sending domain, that's the first thing to fix before your next send.
Check 4: GlockApps
This is where you test your actual email content rather than your sending behavior.
Take your most frequently sent email — your welcome flow email one, your most recent campaign, whatever is going out most often, and run it through GlockApps.
It shows you exactly where that email lands across every major inbox provider. Primary, promotions, spam, or not delivered at all.

Content issues and authentication gaps show up here before they show up in your Klaviyo dashboard.
Running this monthly means you catch a content problem before it becomes a reputation problem.
Check 5: ZeroBounce
Invalid addresses, spam traps, and honeypot emails don't announce themselves.
They just quietly accumulate between sends and drag your sender score down with every campaign they're included in.
Run your list through ZeroBounce once a month and suppress anything that comes back as invalid, risky, or a spam trap.
The process takes minutes and the suppression happens directly inside Klaviyo without touching a single spreadsheet.

This is the check most brands skip because the list looks fine from the outside. It rarely is.
Check 6: DNS Settings via EasyDMARC
We saved this one for last because it's the most technical and because if everything above looks healthy but your results still aren't where they should be, this is almost always where the answer is hiding.
Go to easydmarc.com and run your sending domain through their diagnostic tool.
💡 NOTE: Enter your domain like this brand.com NOT like this https://brand.com/
It checks your SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records and tells you immediately if anything is misconfigured or out of alignment.

Before

After
A misaligned SPF record is one of the single biggest contributors to landing in spam and it can break silently without any obvious warning inside your email platform.
We've seen accounts with perfectly healthy engagement metrics still landing in spam consistently because of a DNS configuration issue that nobody had checked in over a year.
This is also where most brands realize they need a second pair of eyes.
What’s Next?
If you run through all six checks and
1️⃣ If your score has dropped more than 20 points at once
2️⃣ Find something in your DNS settings that you're not sure how to fix
3️⃣ Email revenue hasn’t improved
That's exactly what our 30-Day Deliverability Drill Down covers.
We go through everything above and make sure your Klaviyo account and sender reputation are dialed in, without more than a 1-hour onboarding call and a 45-minute catch-up call once per month.
